  1. Gellie,

I only saw your Journal up so I will just place my comments on that.

You clearly have a film that is crafted from your own personal feelings and experiences and I think that works for what you have written down. I don't know how the story plays out exactly but I think that you should really look into the feelings and the emotions that you have dealt with in order to arrive at your current place in reality and in written form. Great inspiration can be drawn from really looking into your own psyche and I think that whatever issues that you are having with your script can be impacted by that.

I think that you have a good start to your journal. It feels as if your film is going to have a lot of warmer tones from the inspirational photos and from what I gathered are your inspirations.

There are a few questions that I have from reading your journal that I am sure will be addressed at some point in time. You state that you like the pop-zooms and that they are an interesting way of directing the gaze. But you didn't really mention it in your cinematography section. I don't know if you are looking for that for your film, but it didn't really appear that way from the way you want it to be shot.

I think that you should look closer into how you want the relationship between them to be shown on screen. There are a lot of little things that you can do over time to help highlight the chance in both Francis and the possible "relationship" that they may have. You can try and utilize softer lighting between the two of them to give it that dreamier look which can help your audience to sense the feelings between the two.

I think that you may want to look at the sepia tone. Personally I think that you could even look at a different color pallet for when things take place in that world rather than the conventional tactic of using sepia for flashbacks. It will allow you to control the things within the frame and give a better sense of it in a different way. Just something to think about.

I will be interested to see how long your movie is planned for. That is the biggest question that I have right now. I don't really have a sense for how long you intend on it being and how you are going to accomplish what you are looking for and in the time in which it will happen. I would just take a guess that you are looking for a 10 minute TRT right now but that is a blind guess. I think that would be a good starting point for the length because you can accomplish a lot of what you want through montage or even just subtle moments between the two without necessarily huge extravagance.

Keep up the momentum and keep working on it.

  2. hey taurean!

so for your first question I did want the pop-zooms, i thought i put that under my cinematography section, I'll definitely have to correct that :) As for the running time, I'm really not sure right now to be honest, I usually like to play with things when I'm onto the post production stage but I';ll definitely try to have a set RT.

Oh, and thank you for all your suggestions in for cinematography, my mind is kind of all over the place with that one because I really like a lot of different stuff and I cannot decide which one I would prefer, so thank you :)
